James McDonald is an experienced interior photographer based in London. Self taught, he has been working professionally for 12 years.
Commissions extend from the UK, Europe and the Middle East as far as Africa, Asia and America, and James’s photographs (and frequently accompanying text) have been published in magazines, such as House & Garden, The World of Interiors, Vogue Living and Cabana.
The author and photographer of a book on Alnwick Castle, James was also the special photographer on interior designer Alidad’s book, The Timeless Home, and continues to work with international publishers.
In addition he takes on private commissions, still life and portraits, for high profile families where trust and reliability matter.
James’s versatility, work ethic, editorial eye and attention to detail have endeared him to leading interior designers, new restaurants and hotels as well as the world’s leading auction houses. He is adept in difficult lighting conditions, able to capture the atmosphere of an interior balancing both natural and artifical light.
