The Interior Archive was established in 1994 responding to a growing momentum generated by interior designers, design magazines and book publishers of interiors, architecture and lifestyle and a burgeoning industry that required the very best photographers in this specialist field.

Thirty years on The Interior Archive, and its stable of experienced photographers, ranks as one of the world’s leading independent photographic agencies. Its library of online images is considered internationally to be one of the finest interior design resources of its kind.

Karen Howes, owner and director of The Interior Archive, has Robert Harling, erstwhile editor of House & Garden, to thank for kick-starting a career in the mid-1980s as a writer and journalist. Since when, she has written articles for House & Garden and The World of Interiors, Veranda, Milieu and a wealth of other international interiors and lifestyle magazines.

She has also written a number of books: Making the Most of Bedrooms; Living in London; Gerard Depardieu’s My Cookbook; Vacation Homes & Perfect Weekend Hideaways; Luxury Minimal; New York Interiors; Studio Indigo and London Living. Karen has also collaborated on a number of others: Homes & Gardens Book of Design; John Stefanidis, Living by Design.

Today, the Interior Archive continues to be the go-to resource for interior design books across the spectrum.
